Abstract
837,409. Valves. NORDSTRANDSVENTILEN A.B. June 25, 1956 [June 25, 1955], No. 2372/59. Divided out of 836,597. Class 135. A valve of the type having a hollow resilient body 6 mounted in a housing 1 so that a passage 2 is formed around the hollow body 6 and a movable member 13 for urging the wall of the hollow body 6 to engage a seat in the wall of the housing 1 is characterized by an additional movable member 27 in register with an opening 29 through the wall of the housing 1 and adapted to urge the wall of the resilient body 6 into fluid-tight engagement with the opening 29. The movable member 13 is operated by a crank-shaft having an enlarged portion 19 provided with a peripheral groove 28 engaging the inner end of the pin 27 to urge it against the wall of the resilient body 6. At a predetermined angular position relative to the crankshaft the groove 28 is provided with a radial depression. When the crankshaft is turned so that the depression is moved into engagement with the end of the pin 27, the latter is permitted to move inwards thus releasing the corresponding portion of the wall of the hollow body 6 from engagement with the passage 29. The passage 29 may constitute a bleeding aperture which is arranged to be open when the valve is shut. The opening 29 can also be connected to a system for indicating the position of the crankshaft. In another embodiment the enlarged end 19 of the crankshaft is provided with 2 peripheral grooves engaging 3 pins at different relative angular positions of the crankshaft, each pin registering with a passage in the wall of the housing.
