Abstract
A multi-conductor electrical cable contains at least two conductors each of which is covered by a differently-coloured insulating material selected from the following compositions, 0.18 to 22 phthalocyanin blue, 0.9 to 1.1 titanium dioxide; 0.9 to 1.1 lead chromate-lead molybdate orange, 0.27 to 0.33 titanium dioxide; 0.18 to 0.22 phthalocyanine green, 0.36 to 0.44 benzidine orthotoluide-coupled yellow, 0.9 to 1.1 titanium dioxide; 0.9 to 1.1 lead chromate-lead molybdate orange, 0.036 to 0.044 carbon black, 0.45 to 0.55 titanium dioxide; 0.027 to 0.33 carbon black, 0.9 to 1.1 titanium dioxide; 0.9 to 1.1 pyrazolone type red, 0.45 to 0.55 titanium dioxide; 0.36 to 0.44 carbon black; 0.63 to 0.77 benzidene ortho-toluide-coupled yellow, 0.9 to 1.1 titanium dioxide; 0.09 to 0.11 carbazole derivative violet, 0.9 to 1.1 titanium dioxide; 0.67 to 0.83 aluminium powder, 0.67 to 0.83 of benzidine orthotoluide-coupled yellow, 0.27 to 0.33 lead chromate-lead molybdate orange; all together with an antioxidant and the remainder a saturated hydrocarbon polymer or copolymer derived from mono-olefines or mixtures thereof, all the amounts being based on weight per cent. Polymers specified are polyethylene in solid or expanded form of low or high density type, polyisobutylene, polypropylene, polybutene-1, and polymers of 3-methylbutene-1, 4-methylpentane-1, 4,4-dimethylpentene-1, dodecene-1, and 3-methylpentene-1, and the antioxidant may be 4,41-thiobis-(6-t-butyl-m-cresol). The compositions are prepared by milling a master-batch which is added to further polymer, and the products may be extruded about copper conductors.
