A resilient seal comprises a core of a silicone elastomer compound based on di-methyl-polysiloxane, methyl - phenyl poly - siloxane, or methyl-vinyl poly-siloxane and a covering layer of a fabric which is impregnated and/or coated with elastomer which has low temperature resistance and also resistance to attack by kerosene and petroleum fuels, the assembly so formed being vulcanized to form a coherent whole. The core may be solid, tubular or cellular and the fabric, which may be of knitted, woven or plaited form or filaments wound on the core, is made of nylon, glass filaments or " Terylene " (Registered Trade Mark). The fuel-resistant elastomer may be a fluoro-silicone rubber.
