Abstract
836,070. Automatic control systems for aircraft. COLLINS RADIO CO. Oct. 28, 1957 [Feb. 18, 1957], No. 33590/57. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] Electrical control signals are faded into an aircraft automatic pilot by means of a transistor circuit. In the aircraft automatic pilot shown, signals dependent on heading, banking, radio course deviation, and desired heading are selected manually by a switch 6 and applied to amplifiers 7 or 8 which control the rudder and ailerons. The selected signals are introduced gradually by transistor circuits 9 of which that associated with the bank signal is typical. To introduce the bank signal switch 6 is moved to close contacts 6a so that a direct voltage from source 11, 14 is applied between base and emitter of a transistor 13 to render it conductive. This permits the discharge of a condenser 21 connected between the collector and base of the transistor, thereby gradually increasing current through rectifiers 15, 16, 17, 18 and resistances 19, 20. The gradually increasing conduction of rectifiers 15, 16 applies the bank signal gradually to amplifier 7.
