Abstract
1,246,815. Detecting signals in a voltage range. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 19 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 60324/68. Heading H3T. A circuit for detecting whether an input voltage is within a given range comprises two transistor long-tail pairs Q 3 , Q 4 and Q 1 , Q 2 having the input voltage S applied to the bases of one side of the pairs and having reference voltages corresponding to the two limits of the range applied to the other bases, the collectors of corresponding sides being connected together and to a detector which indicates the desired condition. When the input voltage is between the reference voltages the common emitter current i 1 flows through Q 2 , and the similar current i 2 flows to Q 3 so that the voltage across the relay is zero. If the input is outside the range both transistors on one side or the other conduct and the relay operates. The relay is replaced in Fig. 2 (not shown) by a pair of transistors having commoned collectors, commoned emitters connected to a transistor acting as a Zener diode and having the output voltages from R 3 and R 4 applied to the bases.
