Abstract
835,547. Seals. DINGWALL, T. E. Feb. 15, 1957 [Feb. 21, 1956], No. 5393/56. Class 146(2) In a seal comprising a pronged fastening component 1 and a penetrable component 7, in which the prongs 2 are to be forced into the penetrable component, by a clinching tool, and embedded therein in a curved or curled state, one or more of the prongs has at least one barb forming portion 18 spaced from its side edges adapted to project outwardly from the general lie of the prong when the latter is curved or curled The component 1 may have a stiffening bead 4 and a depending rib 5 with a serrated edge 6. Each barb may be formed by a V-shaped incision as at 18, with two separate points, in the form of an equilateral triangle, or within a larger aperture, and may be initially bent outwardly by bending the prong inwardly about the base of the barb. The clinching tool is of known type.
