A draw-off tap for wash boilers comprising a body 1 having a valve seating 4, a sleeve 7 on the body in alignment with the seating and having a bore which is screw-threaded at its inner end 1a, a plug valve 2 having a seating washer 3 and a screw-threaded portion engaging the sleeve and adapted to be inserted and removed through the outer end of the sleeve, a groove 5 on the plug valve on the outer side of the screw thread, and a rubber sealing-ring 6 circular in cross-section in the groove is characterized in that the crosssectional diameter of the ring is less than the width of the groove and the distance between the bore of the sleeve and the bottom of the groove is less than the cross-sectional diameter of the ring so that the ring is deformed sufficiently to have a sliding and sealing engagement with the bore of the sleeve without filling the groove. The plug valve 2 may be a composite member comprising a spindle of plastic material moulded into a brass part forming the screwed portion. Specification 757,743 is referred to.
