Abstract

The invention comprises sulphonamides of the formula <FORM:0834929/IV (b)/1> wherein A is a thienyl or pyridyl radical and X is a -CH2-, -CO- or -CH2-CH2- group, e.g. 2 - benzoylthiophene - 41 - sulphonamide, 2 - and - 4 - benzoylpyridine - 41 - sulphonamide, 2 -, 3 - and 4 - benzylpyridine - 41-sulphonamide and 4-phenethylpyridine-41-sulphonamide. The compounds are made by the action of ammonia, an ammonium salt or an ammonium donor on the corresponding sulphohalide. Sulphohalides used as starting materials for the preparation of the above sulphonamides are prepared by sulphochlorination or by exchange of an amine group for a sulphohalide group.
