Abstract

The invention comprises hydrazinium salts of the formula <FORM:0880235/IV (b)/1> (wherein R and R1 are alkyl radicals each containing less than 8 carbon atoms, A is an alkylene group of less than 5 carbon atoms, Ar is a phenyl radical substituted by at least one alkyl radical containing less than 8 carbon atoms and X is an anion bearing the charge n). They may be prepared by reacting chloramine with the appropriate tertiary amine, or by reacting hydroxylamine-O-sulphonic acid with the tertiary amine. Anions X may be exchanged by metathesis. Examples are given, and many anions derived from organic and inorganic acids are referred to. Specification 858,488 and U.S.A.
