833,924. Moulding uppers to shoe soles. GHIGNATTI, U. Nov. 15, 1957 [Dec. 13, 1956], No. 35673/57. Class 87(2). A mould for bonding soles of rubber, plastic, or the like to uppers has two mould portions 1, 2 which co-operate when the mould is closed to form a frame for the sides and/or the top edges of the sole and which meet along two planes la, 2a each being offset from and on opposite sides of the centre plane of the mould (i.e. a plane perpendicular to the sole and bisecting the toe- and heel-forming portions of the mould cavity). Each portion 1, 2 of the mould is carried by a pair of parallel links 5, one end of each link being pivotally connected to the associated mould portion and the other end pivoted about a spindle 6. The two mould portions are displaceable by a common hydraulic control system incorporating two pairs of pistons, each pair operating within an associated cylinder, and both cylinders being connected to a common source of pressure fluid.
