Abstract
Aluminium trihydride is produced together with dialkyl aluminium halide by interacting aluminium trihalide or monoalkyl aluminium dihalide and dialkyl aluminium hydride. Halides specified are chloride and bromide. Alkyl radicals specified are ethyl, n-propyl and iso-butyl. The reaction may be carried out in an oscillating ball mill in the presence of a solvent, e.g. hexane and nitrogen. The aluminium hydride, which is precipitated as a solid, may be separated by filtration, or by distillation under reduced pressure in a thin layer evaporator with rotating blades. Dialkyl aluminium hydride for use in the process may be produced according to Specifications 770,707, 794,359 or 833,645, or from the dialkyl aluminium halide produced in the process by intermediate conversion into aluminium trialkyl according to Specification 779,873 or by reaction with sodium, and final conversion according to Specifications 778,098 or 833,645. Alkyl aluminium dihalide for use in the process may be produced by reacting the dialkyl aluminium halide produced in the reaction with aluminium trihalide.ALSO:Dialkyl aluminium halide is produced together with aluminium trihydride by interacting aluminium trihalide or monoalkyl aluminium dihalide and dialkyl aluminium hydride. Halides specified are chloride and bromide. Alkyl radicals specified are ethyl, n-propyl and iso-butyl. The reaction may be carried out in an oscillating ball mill in the presence of a solvent, e.g. hexane and nitrogen. Specifications 770,707, 778,098, 794,359 and 833,645 are referred to.
