Abstract
833,299. Flexible containers. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Dec. 23, 1957 [March 15, 1957], No. 39864/57. Class 66. [Also in Group XVIII] A container of flexible rubberised cord fabric has end closures 12 each reinforced by a resilient bead ring 18, the ends of the container body 10 having similar rings 16, the rings 18 having an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the rings 16, and the end closures 12 being inserted within the ends of the container body 10 so that each ring 18 lies inwardly of and is co-axial with its respective ring 16. The body 10 is formed of two or more plies of cord fabric and the end closures 12 are of strips of similar fabric, Fig. 2 (not shown). One of the end closures 12 supports a fitting 14 with eye bolt 22, the shank 23 of which is screwed into a sleeve 24 secured by flanges 25 to the said end closure. The end closures 12 may be joined to the body 10 by an adhesive or they may be removable and held in position by a groove 19 in each co-acting with the rings 16 on the body 10 and by resilient lips 20. A passage 21, extending through one of the end closures 12, enables the container to be pressurized with gas by means of a nozzle N. Each of the bead rings 16 and 18 may be formed as a number of rings or as a continuously wound coil or bundle of wires; the rings 18 may, in addition, be in the form of a tightly wound helical spring.
