Abstract

833,286. Soldering-irons. LIGHTERS Ltd. May 28, 1958 [June 4, 1957], No. 17765/57. Class 83 (4). In an electric soldering iron having a bit 8 and a two-part longitudinally-divided moulded handle 4, the handle has moulded therewith a holder for a pilot lamp 12 for illuminating the work to be soldered, the lamp being connected in series with the iron element. The iron has a moulded two - part handle 4 which provides a housing 14 for a screw-in bulb 12 shielded by a member 16 and supports a metal tube 6 containing the heating element. The bit 8 is connected by a split-pin 9 to a cap 7 on the tube 6 and a support 21 which snaps into a groove 23 in the handle provided with lugs 22 a rest for the iron. A supply cable is connected to terminals 19, 20 and its earth lead to terminal 17, the heating element is connected to terminals 18, 19 and the lamp is connected to terminals 18, 20. A switch to shunt the lamp may be provided. According to the Provisional Specification the lamp is mounted on a metal tube projecting from the handle.
