Abstract

832,058. Ironing-machines. IRONRITE Inc. Aug. 29, 1958 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 27857/58. Class 138 (2). A rotary ironing-machine 12 with a heated shoe 26 has its feed board 10 substantially the same length as and normally coextensive with the shoe and is mounted to be movable lengthwise of the shoe in either direction so as to expose one end of the shoe for ironing small articles, ruffles &c. The feed board 10 is hinged to the end portion 28 of shoe mounting plate 24 by hinges 32 which pass through two spaced slots 30, for pivotal and sliding movement about rods 46 projecting through openings 44 of ear portions 34 of the hinges 32 and extending between pairs of spaced mounting crosses 48 on the underside of feed board 10. Four retaining plates 52 lock the ends of the two rods 46 in recesses 50 of the bosses 48. A slot 60 in a positioning boss 62 on the underside of feed board 10 locates one of the ears 34 to centralize the feed board with the ironed roll 18 and prevent longitudinal movement. To adjust the position of the feed board it is lifted so that the boss 62 is clear of the ear 34 when it can then slide along rods 46 to expose either end of the shoe 26.
