Abstract
831,340. Cooling moulding sand. JUNKERATHER GEWERKSCHAFT. Dec. 6, 1956 [Dec. 9, 1955], No. 37397/56. Class 64(2) A helical shoot 1, welded at its outer edge to a tubular casing 2, is vibrated vertically so that moulding sand to be cooled ascends the shoot from an inlet 10 to an outlet 11. Cooling gas is passed in or out through slots 2a in the wall 2 and over the sand bed, the slots being aligned in a spiral and smaller in height or width nearer the end (the top, as shown) where the gas is drawn off by a fan 8 or introduced by a blower. The shoot 1 and wall 2 are suspended by springs 6 from a frame 5. A bellows 7 interconnects the top inner edge of the shoot 1 with the fan 8. A stationary cylindrical baffle 9 (shown in ghost lines) may be provided in the central space of the helical shoot. Stays 3 are secured to the inner edge of the shoot. Dust blown to the central space of the shoot is withdrawn through a closable opening 4a. Specification 768,284 is referred to.
