Abstract
A fluidized bed container 15 particularly for use in apparatus for heat-treating metal rod as described in Specifications 1,040,760 and 1,048,833 has part of its wall formed by a corrugated inner wall 18 of a double-walled heat-exchange element 16 through which heating or cooling fluid passes. The fluidizing gas enters the bed through a perforated plate 14 over a conical inlet and is withdrawn from an upper member 23 closed at the top having outwardly flaring walls and slots which communicate with an annular suction pipe 24 leading to a cyclone separator.
