Abstract
The viscosity of melts of linear polyamides and polyesters is increased by adding thereto basic N- or N,N1-polyepoxides. Specified polyepoxides are N-di-(2,3-epoxypropyl)-aniline, N,N1-di - (2,3 - epoxypropyl) - N,N1 - dimethyl - p,p1 - diamino-diphenyl methane and N,N1-tetra-(2,3-epoxy-propyl)-p,p1-diamino-diphenyl methane which may be made by reacting primary aromatic or aliphatic monoamines or primary or secondary di- or poly-amines with epichlorohydrin to form poly-(hydroxy-chloropropyl)-amines which are converted to polyepoxides by the action of aqueous alkalies. In Examples (1) and (2) polycaprolactam is reacted with N-di-(2,3 - epoxypropyl) - aniline, N,N1 - di - (2,3 - epoxypropyl) - N,N1 - dimethyl - p,p1 - diamino-diphenyl methane and N,N1-tetra-(2,3-epoxypropyl)-p,p1-diamino-diphenyl methane whilst in Example (3) a polyester made from adipic acid, hexanediol-1,6 and butanediol-1,3 is reacted with diepoxypropylaniline. Specifications 772,830, 816,923 and German Specification 1.027,398 are referred to.
