Abstract

A glass sheet is coated on both sides with a layer of tin oxide by passing the heated glass between sprays of stannic tetrachloride. The glass is then tempered and the coating on one side removed, e.g. by zinc and hydrochloric acid. The method may be applied to glass carrying interference or partially reflecting films.
