830,513. Ampoules. FARBWERKE HOECHST AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT VORM. MEISTER, LUCIUS & BRUNING. Jan. 27, 1956 [Jan. 29, 1955], No. 2811/56. Classes 81 (1) and 81 (2). A closure or adapter for an ampoule having a piston stopper, as used in cartridge syringes, has a conical fitting to receive a needle mount. One form is shown in Fig. 1 and comprises a circular member with a conical projection 4 and a downwardly directed rim which is rolled over the lip 1 of the ampoule 7, to secure it in position. It also holds a rubber seal 2 which is ultimately punctured by the needle 8, when this is fitted in position. In one modification the closure is made in two parts, the attachment ring being separate from the conical member and, in another, the upper end of the cone is left open but is sealed by suitable means, for use with a single-ended needle. In the form of adapter to be used with existing ampoules, the conical fitting 4, Fig. 4, is provided with hinged members 14 which are placed around the rim 1 of the ampoule 7 and secured by a slidable ring 15.
