Abstract

830,452. Road sweeping machines. LEWIN ROAD SWEEPERS Ltd. Feb. 25, 1958 [March 5, 1957], No. 7199/57. Class 107 In a road sweeping machine the brush comprises a plurality of relatively movable sections each provided with hydraulic pressure means connected in a common circuit which includes a single hydraulic pressure relief valve which can be pre-set to control the common sweeping pressure of the brush sections. As shown, the machine is fitted with a gutter brush 13 mounted on a parallelogram linkage 14 the height of which is adjustable by the hydraulic ram 32, and a horizontal brush 12 comprising a number of sections each supported in bearings 18 on a plate 17 which is connected to a plate 19 pivoted to the main frame of the machine at 20, the height of the sections of the brush 12 being adjustable by hydraulic rams 15. The rams are arranged to exert a turning moment in the opposite direction to that caused by the weight of the brushes and the maximum sweeping pressure is that of the weight of the brushes. One hydraulic circuit is provided for the gutter brush 13 and a second for the road brushes 12, the pressure exerted by the hydraulic rams 32 and 15 being controlled by adjustable hydraulic pressure release valves. A suitable hydraulic circuit is described in detail. Specifications 830,451 and 830,454 are referred to.
