Abstract
A dispersing vessel contains a detergent composition which is adapted to be delivered through a valve under pressure in a non-frothy form, so that froth may subsequently be obtained by the addition of water accompanied by mechanical agitation. The composition comprises (a) soap or a synthetic detergent, such as triethanolamine lauryl sulphate, lauryl alcohol condensed with ethylene oxide, derivatives of the condensation products of fatty acids with polyamines, quaternary ammonium bases, or polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate; (b) a hydrophilic solvent, preferably an aqueous solution of an alcohol such as methanol, ethanol, butanol, glycerol or butyl "Cellosolve" (Registered Trade Mark); and (c) a volatile propelling agent which is liquid under pressure in the container, such as an aliphatic hydrocarbon, for example propane or butane, or a halogenated hydrocarbon, preferably difluorodichloromethane. The composition generally contains water in a proportion not higher than 1.5 times the weight of the soap or detergent, under which conditions the solution of soap or synthetic detergent completely dissolves the propellant under excess pressure, while undue frothing on the release of the excess pressure is avoided. The compositions may be used as a shampoo. Antifoaming agents, such as a silicone, may also be included.ALSO:A dispensing vessel contains a detergent composition which is adapted to be delivered through a valve under pressure in a non-frothy form, so that froth may subsequently be obtained by the addition of water accompanied by mechanical agitation. The compositions may be adapted for use as a toothpaste, in which case saccharin, peppermint oil, and colloidal tricalcium phosphate may be incorporated. Antifoaming agents, such as a silicone, may also be included.
