830,222. Blood transfusion appliances. LABORATORIEN HAUSMANN A.G. Feb. 28, 1958 [Nov. 30, 1956], No. 36664/56. Class 81 (2). A flexible container for fluids, such as are used in transfusion &c. is made of synthetic resin sheet, having an extendability of at least 300% in one direction, so that a dispensing tube can be passed through the wall without leakage. The bag is preferably made from extruded tubing and is transversely sealed along lines 22 after filling. This may be supported by a clip 60 and a pointed dispensing tube 36 is then passed through the wall. The tube has an orifice 44 so that the contents may pass out of the bag through tubing 54 to an injection needle 56. The tube 36 may have an enlarged portion 40 to form a drip tube and preferably has a lateral projection 46 which is pushed through the end portion 23 to retain it in position. Various types of dispensing tubes are described having the withdrawal orifice 44 in different positions and, in some cases, having one or more such apertures, located in a flat face so as to avoid tearing the material of the bag on insertion.
