Abstract

830,015. Centrifugal switches; switch contacts. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 20, 1956 [Dec. 27, 1955], No. 38874/56. Class 38 (5). A non-vacuum tight switch has a hollow or tubular member of thin highly flexible insulating material extending between the contact arms so as to enclose the contacts to render them dust-proof. As shown, the invention is applied to the speed-responsive switch of Specification 504,678 and the hollow member 24 is formed from, e.g. silicone rubber, with lugs 25 forced into openings 23 in one contact arm 15. The other contact arm 20 is forced through a slot 29 in the member 24 so that the contacts 18, 19 are arranged within the housing, which is so flexible that it is distorted when the contacts are closed without imparting any opening bias to the contacts.
