Abstract

829,670. Containers and closures therefor. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. Nov. 29, 1957, No. 37368/57. Classes 66 and 125(3). A container, comprising an inner cup 1 in an outer cup 2, is characterised in that the cups are of plastics material and have interlocking parts, formed on portions of the cups which effect a push-on fit one within the other, for preventing axial and rotational movement of each cup relative to the other. The cups 1, 2, which may be of toughened polystyrene, are of different colours. The inner cup 1 has a skirt 3 depending from a flange 4 from which upstands a spigot 5 having four start-screw, or continuous threads 6 co-operating with a screw cap 7. The skirt 3 is formed with an annular rib 8 co-operating with a groove 9 below a rib 11 in the wall of the cup 2. Each cup has axial tooth-like elements 12 which intermesh. In a modification. Fig. 4 (not shown), a base portion of the inner cup 1 may extend through an aperture in the base of the outer cup 2. A cover 16 of polythene may be fitted to the inner cup 1, a chamfered part 19 being provided on the spigot 5 to aid in removing the cover. The interlocking parts 8, 9 and the tooth-like parts 12 maybe discontinuous.
