Abstract

829,388. Drilling-machine details. ARO EQUIPMENT CORPORATION. Jan. 22, 1958 [July 29, 1957], No. 2152/58. Class 83 (3). Means for locking a drill &c. housing 44 to a jig 10, 12, comprises a jig-adaptor A having a bore to receive the shank 38 of a drill-bushing B, a lug 48 on the shank co-operating with a groove 28 in the bore as the shank is thrust through the bore, and means 30 on the adaptor for locking the lug, upon relative rotation between the adaptor and bushing. A pair of lugs 48 with rear cam-faces 50 are provided on the shank, and engage sloping faces 32 on the arcuate projections 30 on adaptor A, drawing a flange 37 on the bushing B against the face of the jig upon anti-clockwise rotation of the bushing, which may be effected by the torquereaction to drilling. The adaptor A is a pressfit in the jig, and is knurled at 34 to prevent rotation, while bushing B engages screw-threads in a sleeve 42 mounted in the drill housing 44. The bushing B may be bushed to guide a smaller drill.
