Abstract

Sustained release fertilizers containing compounds of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are mixed with a solid petroleum hydrocarbon, (preferably 3 to 10% by weight) such as asphalt, petroleum resins or preferably wax. The fertilizer is mixed with the molten hydrocarbon which is then allowed to solidify. Pesticides and/or fungicides may be incorporated in the compositions; specified are 2, 4-D, benzene hexachloride and mercury fungicides. An improvement in handling properties, e.g. reduced caking, is also alleged.ALSO:Pesticides and/or fungicides such as 2, 4-D, benzene hexachloride and mercury fungicides may be incorporated in fertilizer compositions which also incorporate 0.1-25% by weight of a solid petroleum hydrocarbon such as wax, asphalt or a petroleum resin.
