Abstract

828,337. Two-part couplings. BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH Ltd. Nov. 21,1957 [Nov. 21, 1956 (2)], Nos. 35625/56 and 35627/56. Class 38 (1). Printed circuit cards 5 and 16 (Fig. 7), are connected by blade members 1 fixed to card 5 which pass through slots in card 16 to engage flexible members 11, 12 thereon with a wiping contact and make a further contact suitable for soldering with the tips 14<SP>1</SP> of another flexible member. When the joint between 1 and 14 is to be unsoldered the springiness of the material permits of these members being held apart when the solder has been melted. It is said that owing to the shaping of the members the solder will not run appreciably or foul the socket. Members. 11, 12 and 14 form part of a single stamping which is secured to cord 16 by ears passing through slots in the card and bent over to engage the printed circuit. Members 1 are similarly fixed to card 5 and both sets of members may be dipsoldered to the printed circuits on the cards. In another embodiment (Figs. 8 and 9), a printed circuit on card 11 is connected to a similar circuit on card 11 by a plug member 12 secured to card 11 which makes contact at two points with a springy member 3 fixed to card 1. In the Fig. 8 embodiment, member 13 may be dip-soldered to member 3 at its curved tip 6. The arrangement shown in Fig. 10 provides only one point of contact and is not claimed.
