Abstract

828,240. Sliding clasp fasteners. NEWEY BROS. Ltd. Jan. 21, 1958 [Jan. 22, 1957], No. 2240/57. Class 44. A locking slider for a sliding clasp fastener has a puller 11 hingedly mounted in the slider body 10 and carrying a tooth 13 adapted to engage the fastener elements and lock the slider in position when the puller is turned down against the slider body the puller being formed with spaced eccentric or cam portions 16 cooperating with the limbs of a wire spring 17 of U outline of which the base or junction of the limbs is anchored in the slider body, the spring in conjunction with the eccentric or cam portions resiliently locating the puller in at least the locking position. The limbs are flattened where they engage the eccentric or cam portions of the puller and as shown the shape of the portions 16 is such that the puller is located in both its locking and unlocking positions. The limbs of the spring pass through spaced slots in an end wall of a recess in the body and the base or junction of the spring is housed in a groove - or notch 20 connecting the outer ends of the slots and is clamped therein by closing the metal of the body above the groove or notch down on to it.
