Abstract

827,805. Coiling slivers. IDEAL INDUSTRIES Inc. Jan. 15, 1958, No. 1384/58. Class 120(3) A coiler plate 31 with a circular opening in which the circular base 64 of a driven rotary coiler head 62 is loosely disposed, is made of electrically non-conductive material. The base 64 fits in a shallow recess in a pressure disc 66 of non- ccnductive material, which is penetrated by an inclined. sliver tube 75, and is clamped in position by a shoulder on a coiler gear 70 which is fixed to the disc by screws 71 and driven from the shaft 30. Annular metal bearing races 80, 81 are fixed to the mating surfaces of shoulders 74, 72 of the plate 31 and disc 66 respectively. These races may have annular ridges at their outer edges or have an annular groove and rib respectively. A shaft 63 connects the base 64 to a hub portion 61 which is supported by means of anti-friction bearings in a spider 25 resiliently mounted on the plate 31 to allow it to be pressed upwards by a full can.
