Abstract

826,812. Disc brakes. KLAUE, H. Jan. 9, 1958 [Jan. 29, 1957; June 25, 1957; Aug. 10, 1957], No. 935/58. Class 103 (1). An air or liquid pressure-operated disc brake comprises a rotating brake casing 3, 4 and mounted therein for axial displacement on a stationary brake support 6 two brake discs 10 and 11, provided with brake linings 13 and 14 on their outsides, and formed on their insides with opposite peripherally rising inclined surfaces 12<SP>1</SP>, with balls 12 therebetween, each brake disc, 10 or 11, being rotatable through a predetermined angle in opposite peripheral directions and being pressed axially against the brake casing when rotated relatively to one another, such rotation being produced by oppositely directed pistons 9 in a common brake cylinder, the pistons 9 being mechanically coupled each with one brake disc and the brake cylinder being formed by a bore in the brake support or by being mounted in such bore. The brake cylinder bores extend perpendicularly, or at an obtuse angle, to the brake axis and the pistons in each bore are operatively connected to one another by way of an automatic enclosed wear take-up device.
