Abstract

In the production of Portland Cement clinker, raw materials comprising precipitated chalk and argillaceous material are mixed with water to form a uniform plastic mud before being introduced into a kiln. The preferred raw materials, viz. the precipitated chalk produced by double decomposition of ammonium carbonate and calcium sulphate, and clay, may themselves provide the desired amount of water for the mud, i. e. 18 to 25% by weight.
