Assembled bamboo canes in a pile are fed transversely through a converging space between two belts a and bamboo shavings are cut from the flat-pressed canes by cutting edges e on a rotary disc d; the bamboo shavings are mixed with an adhesive and calcium chloride in a mould and the resulting mass is pressed to shape and dried. In alternative embodiments the disc is replaced by a rotating drum or an oscillating plate.
