Abstract
Dielectric oxide coatings are produced on aluminium electrodes for electrolytic capacitors by treatment with an alkaline aqueous solution which contains a substance yielding atomic oxygen. The solution should not contain metals other than alkali or alkaline earth metals and may contain ammonia or sodium carbonate together with a peroxide such as hydrogen peroxide, sodium peroxide or ammonium persulphate.
