Abstract
In a method of making an electrode for an electrolytic-condenser comprising a carrier metal such as copper or iron with a coating of a metal which forms an insoluble oxide when anodically polarized, e.g. aluminium, magnesium or tantalum, individual particles of the carrier metal are coated and then pressed and sintered to form a porous electrode. Alternatively the carrier metal particles are compressed and sintered and then coated by subjection to a gaseous compound of the coating metal such as tantalum chloride. The sintered body may also be coated by impregnating it with a chemical compound of the coating metal and decomposing the compound by heat treatment.
