823,027. Cigarettes. JACOBY, H. G. June 26, 1958 [July 25, 1957], No. 20589/58. Class 130. The filter tip end of a cigarette is provided with a detachable container 7 for liquid which is used to moisten the filter 5 prior to smoking. The mouthpiece end of the cigarette is stiffened by a tube 3 of stiff paper or cardboard which is lined with metal foil 4 to prevent it becoming limp when the filter is moistened. The container 7 comprises a compressible bulb of rubber or plastic provided with a flange 9 fitting over the end of the cigarette and with a capillary outlet 11 through which the liquid, which may be a weak solution of glycerine in water, is ejected on to the filter 5. A protuberance 12 facilitates removal of the container after the filter has been moistened. In a modification the container is semi-spherical with a flat outer end.
