Abstract

822,701. Laminates. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO. Ltd. Dec. 14, 1955 [Dec. 21, 1954], No. 36938/54. Class 140. [Also in Group XXXV] A composite sheet of electrically insulating material for use in winding slots and slot lines for dynamo-electric machines (e.g. of turboalternator rotors) is made by bonding a layer of polyethylene terephthalate to at least one side of a layer of rubberized asbestos. The rubberized asbestos may have attached to one side resinated asbestos felt and to the other polyethylene terephthalate. Where a sandwich is made the middle layer should be half the total thickness and the outer layers should be of equal thickness. The resin in the asbestos felt may be an epoxy or phenolic thermosetting resin. A pressure-sensitive, preferably thermosetting, adhesive may be used for bonding the polyethylene terephthalate to the rubberized asbestos.
