822,626. Locking rotary elements. LANDIS & GYR A.G. Oct. 15, 1956 [Oct. 25, 1955], No. 31368/56. Class 80 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] A return-arresting device for electricity meters has a spindle 5 driven at reduced speed by the main spindle 1. A star wheel 6 mounted on the spindle 5 over-runs a pawl 7 so arranged that for the normal direction of rotation little resistance is encountered. If the main spindle 1 and hence the driven spindle 5 should reverse, the star wheel 6 engages the pawl 7 and causes the lug 10 on the pawl to strike the pin 9, moving the lever 8 so that the catch 11 meets a similar catch 13 attached to the main spindle and stops it. The number of teeth on the star wheel 6 has the same value as the reduction ratio and the catch 13 can be angularly adjusted relative to the spindle 1 so as to reduce the time of operation.
