Abstract
527,688. Price-change mechanism. LANDIS & GYR AKT-GES. April 19, 1939, No. 11807. Convention date, Feb. 20. [Class 27] [Also in Group XXXVI] A graduated-tariff prepayment meter for electricity, gas, or water, in which price-change takes place automatically when a given quantity has been consumed, has a meter-driven rotary device 8 absorbing little power and acting to release periodically a spindle 12 driven by a synchronous motor 11. This, through a variablegear train 10 drives the quantity mechanism 41 of a prepayment coin-freed differential and thereby stops the supply of electricity &c. after a given consumption. The gear-ratio is changed automatically from a higher to a lower tariffrating by a meter-driven disc 13 carrying one or more adjustable pins which impart small angular movements to a lever 17 having notches 20, thus determining movement of a spring urged wheel 28 which is the variable element of the gear train. As shown the wheel 28 is fitted with three sets of driving pins of different lengths and can assume three positions in which it acts like a driving wheel with different numbers of teeth.
