[Also in Group XXXVI] A compound for sealing ceramics to metals comprises a boro-silicate glass containing a halogen compound of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, which does not produce an acidic solution in water. A suitable composition comprises (weights per cent.) CaF 2 22 ; Ca- (OH) 2 .26; B 2 O 3 34; Na 2 SiO 3 18.
