Abstract

822,184. Knitted fabrics. BUNGER, A. April 23, 1956 [Oct. 4, 1955; Feb. 21, 1956], No. 12420/56. Classes 74 (1) and 74 (2). Artificial Persian lamb comprises a warpknitted or crocheted ground fabric, the threads of which bind in curly cords a, such as chenilles or wicks of curled fibres, which cords extend side by side on the ground fabric, each over a part of the width of the fabric and generally in the direction of the wales, in lines which meander irregularly and in different ways as between adjacent cords. In Fig. 2, the ground fabric is of separate warp chains b held together by wefts h. In the ground fabric of Fig 4, the warp chains are interconnected; as in the right-hand wale, additional warp threads may be provided, each confined to the one wale, and inelastic or elastic warps m may be tied in. The cords may comprise groups, each containing cords 1-4; one cord of each group is supplied by a common feed-bar and, by giving the bars different movements, the individual cords within a group are made to follow different courses. Between the points at which they are tied in, the cords float, as at i, i<SP>1</SP>, k. The chenilles consist of longitudinally extending threads of cotton holding between their transverse threads of artificial silk, animal fibres such as wool or synthetic material such as a polyamide. The ground fabric threads may be of cotton, a super-polyamide or other synthetic material. A backing of, say, flexible synthetic material may be glued to the ground fabric. Specification 822,185 is referred to.
