Abstract
821,893. Attaching handles. FRANCIS & SONS Ltd., F., and PATMORE, R. E. May 5, 1958 [May 4, 1957], No. 14279/57. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XVII] A can or container 1 is provided with studs 3 or the like to engage a pivoted handle 8 with key-hole slots 9 at its ends, the studs 3 each carrying a pivoted locking element, e.g. thin metal washer 6 with tongue 7, which may be engaged with the handle 8, when it is in position, so that each locking element is movable with the handle and prevents it from coming off the studs. The washers 6 are applied to the studs 3 before the studs are fixed to the container. With the handle 8 in position each tongue 7 is bent up over the transverse edge 12 at each end of the handle, Fig. 2 (not shown). Each washer 6 may have more than one tongue 7.
