Abstract

821,611. Moulding processes. POLYGRAM CASTING CO. Ltd. Feb. 17, 1956 [Feb. 22, 1955], No. 5349/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 83 (1). Shell moulds are made by injecting the moulding mixture into the cavity between a first heated pattern part which defines the working face of the mould, and a second pattern part which defines the back of the mould and which is separated from the first pattern part by a rim round the edge of the cavity, the height of the rim corresponding to the thickness of the mould required, the second pattern part being apertured to permit said injection. In an embodiment a perforated pattern part which shapes the back of the mould is fitted to the perforated bottom of a bin containing the mould mix. Heated complementary pattern parts are then fed in succession e.g. by a turntable, and held in engagement with the first said pattern part and mix is blown from the bin into the cavity defined by the pattern parts. The heated pattern part with the adherent mould is then removed to an oven for further curing. Rams or clamping devices may be used for holding the pattern parts together. In a modification all parts of the pattern are heated. They may be provided with heating means. Specifications 674,422, 795,441, 798,161 and 803,612 are referred to.
