Abstract

819,549. Lighting fittings for elongated fluorescent lamps. REVO ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1958 [Feb. 13, 1957], No. 4883/57. Class 75(4) A constructional unit moulded in a plastic and to be used for building up a trough-like reflector for an elongated fluorescent lamp from a series of such units comprises a plate-like member 7 with a gap 8 descending from the top edge into which the lamp periphery can enter, there being plates 9 formed integrally at each side and top edge of the plate 7 at right angles thereto with upper portions extending up to the gap and the unit is retained on the lamp envelope 6 by integral fingers 10 which extend from the top edges of the side plates 9 to rest on the upper periphery of the lamp 6. The units are aligned by small projections on the top transverse edges of the side plates 9 entering corresponding grooves 11 in the transverse edges of the side plates of the adjacent unit. The side plates are slightly waved along the lower edges whereby any slight inaccuracy of alignment of the units will not be noticeable. The Provisional Specification describes the use of a spring clip fixed at the bottom of the gap to embrace the lamp and also describes a form in which the lamp envelope passes through a circular hole in the plate-like member 7 the hole being provided with a corrugated spring strip to bear on the lamp.
