Abstract
819,334. Ear tags for marking animals. GOLDBERG, H. Aug. 26, 1957 [Sept. 7, 1956; March 15, 1957], No. 26881/57. Class 73 An ear tag for marking sheep and other animals comprises an apertured base part and a co-acting stud part provided with a head adapted to be a press or force fit in the aperture of the base part. The arrangement is such that the stem of the stud part or a boss on the base part, in which the aperture is provided, is passed through a prepared hole in the animal's ear prior to pressing the two parts together. As shown in Fig. 1 the two parts 10, 11 are made of plastic material such as polystyrene or polyethylene and the stud part 10 has a head portion 13 which engages behind a shoulder formed by an annular recess 14 in the rear side of the part 12. The head part may be slotted cruciform fashion to facilitate insertion in the aperture. In another embodiment Fig. 2 the stud part 19 which may be made of aluminium or brass has a rounded head 21 which engages behind a shoulder 22. The boss 17 on the base part 16 is provided with a diametrical slot 18. In another form the stud part 24, Fig. 5, has a stem part 25 which is slotted diametrically, the aperture in the base part 26 being radiallyslotted to provide tongues which engage in a circumferential locking groove 28 in the stem 25.
