Abstract

817,686. Photomechanical printing surfaces. BEKK & KAULEN CHEMISCHE G.m.b.H. Dec. 19, 1955, No. 36304/55. Class 98(2) A metal surface is coated with an acidproof lacquer and then with chrome gum which latter is defined as a solution containing potassium dichromate, gum arabic and water, simultaneous development of the two layers is effected by a developer containing saturated salt solution and a solvent for the lacquer, whereupon etching takes place to produce a printing forme. In an example exposure of the sensitive layer is referred to, the developer is stated to comprise ethyl glycol and ethyl glycol acetate in equal proportions in a saturated solution of magnesium chloride, and a rinsing in water is effected after development, followed by etching in conventional manner. The description prior to the example indicates a preference for saturated calcium chloride solution with solvents such as ketones and esters as the developer.
