Abstract

817,542. Charging and discharging capacitors. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. June 4, 1957 [March 28, 1956; Dec. 7, 1956], Nos. 9757/56 and 37442/56. Class 38 (4). A circuit for limiting the fault energy of a capacitive energy storage system for electrically firing a detonator, comprises a number of capacitors C1-Cn connected together by inductors L1- Ln-1. The capacitors and inductors nearer to the detonator circuit 3a may be smaller than those adjacent to the D.C. source 1. A non- inductive resistor may supplant inductor Ln-1 and additional resistors R26-Rn in series with the end capacitors may be used to further limit the discharge current. A test circuit 3b may be switched across the detonators by means of switch 3c.
