Abstract
817,529. Surgical traction tables. GRAFTON ACCESSORIES Ltd., and RENN, F. W. Feb. 14, 1958, No. 4902/58. Class 81 (2). Surgical traction apparatus has a harness 23, 34 adjustably mounted between the upper ends of vertical rods 20, 20, each attached at an intermediate point to the end of a couch 1, the rods being connected together, below these points, through an inextensible member 35, in order to avoid tensile stresses in the couch. In the form shown the rods are held adjustably in clamps 12 carried on frames 13, which are themselves attached to the bed frame by screws and wing nuts 19, and a wire cable or chain 35 is adjustably connected between the two frames. The harness member 34 is connected to a spring gauge 29 on a slide 26, the position of which, relative to the top 24 of the rod 20, may be adjusted by a hand-operated screw 27. In order that the equipment may be folded under the couch, when not required, the frames 13 are mounted on pivots 10 on supports 6, which are themselves secured to the couch, and, by this means, when thumbscrews 19 are loosened, the rods and frames may be pivoted downwards to come under the couch.
