Abstract
Sterile injectable aqueous solutions or suspensions comprise from 1 to 30 per cent, preferably 2.5-25 per cent, by weight of cyanacethydrazide which may be stabilized by incorporating one or more water-soluble sulphur oxyacids and/or the salts thereof and/or by storage in the absence of oxygen. The sulphur compound may be sulphurous acid or a sulphite, metabisulphite or hydrosulphite particularly in the form of the alkali or alkaline earth metal salt such as sodium sulphite, sodium hydrosulphite or preferably sodium metabisulphite. The absence of oxygen may be secured by formulation in oxygen-free water and/or storage in an inert gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide. A dispersing agent such as the condensation product of octylcresol with 8-10 molecular proportions of ethylene oxide may be included, as may other drugs such as sulphadimidine, penicillin and 1-diethylcarbamyl-4-methyl-piperazine. In suspensions the particle size should be preferably substantially below 100 microns.
