A screwed connector for copper back boilers and similar domestic hot water apparatus is produced by forming in the boiler or like plate a hole a of much smaller bore than the normal bore of the screwed connector and then stamping and working up the metal around the hole to enlarge it and produce an uninterrupted surface of metal extending from the boiler body b to the tubular screwed portion c, the screw being cut in the worked-up material and having its axis at right-angles to the portion of the plate in which the screwed connector is formed, and a ring of brass e is cast in the annular gap behind the tubular threaded part of the connector.
