[Also in Group XXII] A socket for connecting a tubular conduit to a wall box is made from a sheet metal blank shaped to provide two semi-cylindrical parts a, b which come together when the sheet is folded to form a cylindrical socket, one half b of which is of shorter axial length than the other, the blank also being shaped to provide attachment lugs e, f. One or more sides of the box are each formed with a semi-circular aperture h and a pair of slots i for the reception of lugs e. Adjacent parts of the base of the box are formed with slots j, the part between these slots being bent back at right angles to form a semi-circular tongue k. The socket is placed on the box so that part a lies adjacent tongue k and part b abuts the outer surface of the side of the box. Lugs e, f contact the base and side of the box respectively and may be secured by spot-welding or screws m. The socket may be internally screw-threaded.
